OUR STORY

The story of Julius Koch is woven with equal parts solid engineering, good business sense, and a strong sense of quality.
The company was founded in 1895 by Danish engineer Julius Koch to develop textile machinery, weaving equipment, and hand-woven yarn. In 1931, he turned over the company to the visionary engineer Poul Hansen who further developed the company's business areas during his 58 years as Managing Director.

An enduring business model

In 1949, Poul Hansen saw a business opportunity in producing cords and ladder strings for the sunscreening industry and in producing sewing threads for the shoe and leather goods industry. Both were niche areas that would soon prove to be the basis of an enduring business model. In the 1960s, Julius Koch began to expand internationally and establish subsidiaries outside Denmark. Since then, the company has built a solid global business based on developing and manufacturing quality cords for a wide range of purposes. Textile articles for the sunscreening industry are the company's most important business area.
